Deploy The App To Store Teams And Prepare To Audit
The ShelfCheck App can be used by in-store teams on any hand-held device.
ShelfCheck is intuitive and easy to use, guiding staff to easy select their current airport location, terminal and store from our pre-determined list of global Travel Retail outlets.
Once the location is set, users are guided to the photo-capture stage of the process.

Store Teams Capture Images Of In-Store Display
The store team capture the desired photos of fixtures and displays through the ShelfCheck App. The App is self-guiding and assists users in ensuring photo composition, quality and frame are to the highest possible standards for analysis.
Once the required photos are captured, the user is guided to automatically send them directly to Pi Insight for analysis.

Computer Vision Analysis
Once the store photos are recieved, the multi-stage analysis phase commences.
Image Preprocessing:
The images are resised, normalised, and optimised to highlight key features while reducing noise. This ensures uniformity and enhances the computer vision model’s performance.
Pattern Recognition & Classification:
After preprocessing, the model identifies unique products via key features against Pi Insight’s extensive proprietary database and product dictionary, which contains more than 30,000 travel retail SKUs. This unique dataset enables precise identification of products, including recognising objects (e.g., bottles) and reading specific details such as text on shelf labels and price tickets.
Output & Decision:
Based on these recognised patterns, the system classifies products and makes decisions against database information, before sending the results for further compliance checks.

Data Verification Of Every Photo
Every image that passes through the ShelfCheck computer vision model is manually verified.
All outputs are checked by viewing a copy of the photo / fixture being analysed against all key metrics and then confirmed. Checks are done against all machine-driven output such as facings, prices, labels, promotions etc.
Our proprietary QC system enables our internal team to make amends directly in our back end data base prior to publication.
